Eyelid Surgery
Men and women alike often complain of their upper lids feeling heavy or drooping into their vision. Bags below the lower lids give the appearance of added age and of being tired. We can treat these conditions easily and effectively in our comfortable outpatient Surgicenter.
Upper Lid Blepharoplasty is the medical name for a procedure that removes excess skin from the eyelids. In addition to improving the facial appearance, upper lid blepharoplasty can also improve eyesight, in cases where the eyelids overhang to the extent that they interfere with vision. The procedure is performed by making an incision along the crease of the upper eyelid. Excess fatty tissue and sagging muscle are moved and the drooping skin is trimmed. The incision is sutured so that any scarring will be hidden in the natural crease line. For a few days after the surgery, it may be difficult to close the eyelid entirely until the swelling recedes. The eyelid may also be bruised for a short time. It may help to apply cool compresses to the eye and elevate the head while resting. Most people are able to return to their normal routine About Us a week after the surgery.
"Incisionless" Lower-lid Blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes excess fat from the lower eyelid. Lower-lid Blepharoplasty can be performed without any skin incision. With this "no incision" technique there is no scar on the exposed lower lid, thus eliminating the undesirable "surprised look". Anyone with "bags" or puffy lower lids may be a candidate for this procedure.
Not all patients need the same procedure. Our training in Oculoplastic surgery allows the correct procedures to be tailored to the specific problem.
